My Opal socks are done!!!! Yippee!!! They are warming my feet right now. These socks have been an exercise in patience since I started them. And true to their form, I redid the toes three or four times before I was happy with them. But, now they are done! I will post pictures soon.
My husband came home with a digi-cam last night. He had asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day and I told him either a treadmill or a digi-cam. (Truly, I wasn't expecting either!) But, we now have a Canon Powershot A10. I know nothing about them, and normally want nothing to do with anything with Canon on it. (Mostly due to really bad experiences involving a cheap employer and Canon photocopiers!) However, our other digi-cam was a freebee that couldn't take a picture of the broad side of a barn, so I will suffer with this one. :-)
I am toying with the idea of changing the name of this site. I doubt anyone knows what a fribble is (a trifle), and I cease to see any humour in the name anymore. My brain is toying with "Tip of the Iceberg" or "Scattered Marbles". Other contenders are "Sticks and String", "Tangled Web", or "from my couch". Not terribly original, huh? Perhaps I should go with "Janet's blog". "Thread of Life", "Fine Gold Thread", "Warm Feet"? Oh blah, it just gets worse.
Wow! There is an incredible wealth of information on this site. It is the newsletter site for an Israeli knitting guild. If you check out the index and take a look through the newsletters, you could get lost for days!
My Opal socks are on their final rounds. I am fiddling with the toe shaping and am working one row on each sock so it will be identical. I will be so happy when these are done!
My yarn turned out a really wonderful colour. And now my fingers are itching to knit it, but I have a pair of socks that are almost finished, and a pair that need to be worked on from the heel down. These blue ones will be next though! This was so inspiring that I even bought 4 different types of Kool-Aid to try some more dying. My youngest really wants me to do this for her. I suppose I am going to have to knit faster. It is a good thing that the Silja is a sport weight rather than a fingering weight.
Now, if only my scanner would scan the colour as it truly is. Lately everything is off colour.
I bought 2 skeins of Silja yarn in a kit from the "Sock of the Whenever" list on Yahoo. The yarn I got was white, colour 302, and the longer I looked at it, the more I realized that white was not a colour for me to knit socks in. So I am dying it with Wilton Icing Colours in Cornflower Blue. The pot is on the stove right now. I really hope they turn out!
(The house smells like an interesting combination of wet wool and vinegar. Yummy! Perhaps I should wash the dog while I am waiting for it to cook?)
I followed a suggested link to Arnhild's Knitting Studio and couldn't help thinking of Theresa. Although I doubt she would like to send away to the US for yarn that is produced in Norway. There are some interesting things on this site though. I especially like the backpacks!
